From Reggie Curtis - Northern New York, USA: I would begin by asking probing questions. If a Church Planter's passion, fueled by an authentic relationship with Christ, does not show up in answers to these questions, the motivation/calling may be misdirected. The questions would probably be something like this: - Who are you currently praying for to be born again, and what are you doing about it?
- How will you disciple this person after they are born again?
- Where will you plant churches and how will you decide where?
- Why do you want to plant churches?
- What does a successful Church Planter look like to you?
Assuming the answers to these questions are Holy Spirit empowered, I would then spend the next 45 minutes talking to them about: - A healthy relationship with God through prayer and bible study.
- A healthy relationship with my spouse and others by preferring them ahead of myself because of God's love for them and my desire to honor God.
- Recognizing and ministering to those in my everyday life.
- Watch out for BIG IDEAS but no action.
- The importance of fellow laborers for strength and encouragement.
- Use strategies and goals to love people to Jesus, not using people to fulfill my strategies and goals.
- Holiness, the thermostat of a life that is transformed in Jesus.
